non-verbal ques

We asked body language experts to translate some common gestures into business vernacular.

  • Crossed arms: A closed-off posture implies resistance. "People might just be cold, but the stereotype is that they aren't listening," explains Ronald Riggio, director of the Kravis Leadership Institute at Claremont McKenna College.
  • A brief touch to the hand: This captures your attention and forms a quick connection. But toward employees, make sure the action doesn't appear condescending.
  • Check This Out:

To learn what facial expressions tell you -- and what they don't -- visit entrepreneur.com/shortcuts.
A nose rub: This motion is often linked with deception. If you notice people doing this while you talk, you could be coming across as disingenuous.
  • A barrier: Personal space is sacred in Western business culture, so back off if clients put up a barrier, like a purse, says Carol Kinsey Goman, president of Kinsey Consulting Services. "I've seen managers and salespeople who didn't pick up on that cue and lost the deal."
  • A hand placed under the chin: When you see this, a decision is being made. Don't oversell if someone looks interested afterward, but if you spot negative signals, bring up your second-best idea--stat.
  • Feet pointed toward the door: The feet are the most honest part of the body, so no matter how mesmerized people seem to be, this proves they're actually over it.
  • A back-of-the-neck scratch: Your client might have an itch, but it could mean he still has questions and concerns.

Communication-Homework

1. Why is communication important?

I personally think that communication is very important as communication is a form or way to err communicate and interact with one another, without communication the whole world would be out of order, and there will be chaos.

In fact without communication I would not be typing this out right now, nobody will understand.

We will be the dumbest species in the universe. ( that's what i think)

2. What is/are your favourite forms of communication? Why?

Erm... this would be verbal- communication...gestures..body language..facial expressions..eye contact...every single twitch any part of your body can mean something. eg. A little rolling of the eye can mean.. bored.. ignoring u..restless....

3. How do you decide which form of communication to use in a situation?

Erm...Depends on the situation..eg.Like if I was a teacher and students are talking at the wrong time out of control I would use body language by folding up my arm and waiting for them..

4. What difficulties do you face in communicating with others?

Some of other people won't understand all the forms of communication so we should always know when to use forms of communication at different times.

I also want to add that learning more about communication and using it at the right time and way can actually capture your audiences and advertise things better.

Wishes on the Wall

Wall wisher is also very similar with What I have suggested "Survey Monkey" It allows people to post what ever they like on a particular wall with others and arrange it in whatever way they like. And see other people's comments :D It is a very efficient way to gather Ideas.
But there are also limitations to wall wisher. For example, in wall wisher u can only type 160 words in a post. Meaning u need to make more post to continue saying what u want to. Which also mean taking u more space in a wall, having lesser space for others to type and share their feelings. And there are also people who like to disrupt stuff they can go into the wall and fill the whole wall with unnecessary junk making a cram in the wall. even though the maker can delete those post but it would be wasting a lot of time as deleting them takes time.
We can use wall wisher to post questions on learning activities and post dates of practice time and venue for CCA's For example holidays are coming and the coach wants to put up holiday practices so he post them on a particular wall on wall wisher just for that CCA and the other members would check it regularly for any updates.
